Roof Moss Removal North Vancouver
Shade and constant damp make North Shore roofs perfect for moss. Left alone, it lifts shingles and holds water against your roof.
Why moss is a problem
Moss grows between and under shingles. As it thickens, it lifts the edges, holds moisture against the roof for days after the rain stops, and sheds into your gutters, where it adds to clogs. On heavily shaded roofs it can spread quickly.
How moss should be removed
Moss on asphalt shingles should be removed by hand and with soft brushing. High-pressure washing is a bad idea on shingles because it strips the protective granules and can force water under them. Once the moss is off, a treatment can help slow regrowth.
Where moss shows up first
North-facing slopes, sections under overhanging trees, and areas that stay shaded most of the day. If you can see green on your roof from the street, there's usually more of it up close.
Pair it with a gutter clean
Moss removal sends debris into the gutters, so it makes sense to clean the gutters at the same visit.
